Game Magazines
Cover & Interior Illustration
ART - Dragon Magazine 110 Cover
I have been fortunate to have had my color and black and white illustrations appear on numerous game magazine covers and printed as interior art.
Cover - Dungeon magazine #8, 1987
The image at left was produced to illustrate an adventure appearing in of Dungeon magazine (issue 8) for which I also produced some line-art interior illustrations.
The image at right was featured as the cover of the 10th anniversary issue of Dragon magazine (issue 110). It was also published in the TSR book The Art of Dragon and as a cardstock insert in the binder-format Monster Manual. Titled The Vanquished Cavalier, it was produced in acrylic paint on artboard.

On The Edge
A Collectable Card Game
Set on the fictitious Mediterranean island of Al Amarja, On The Edge™ was released by Atlas Games in 1994, in the wake of the collector card game boom initiated by the success of Magic, The Gathering™. I was thrilled that John Nephew asked me to contribute some illustrations toward the deck: Karla Sommers, Psychovore, Underground Trident HQ, Weegzon, and Dark Aura Ring (top-center shows the game logo and card-back art, which I did not produce).
These images were also published as book and magazine illustrations. Karla Sommers was printed in the book Surviving On The Edge – The Player's Survival Guide (Atlas Games, 1995). Psychovore appeared as the cover for Adventures Unlimited gaming magazine (issue 5, 1996). Weegzon was printed on the cover of Scrye collector card game magazine (issue 3, 1994).

Murphy’s World
A Humorous Techno-Fantasy Roleplay Game

I produced a color acrylic cover painting, a hand-painted logo, a digitally illustrated map, black and white icons and a huge number of greyscale pencil and watercolor illustrations for the Murphy's World RPG book during 1993 and 1994 — between other tasks and commercial assignments.
Drawing - Elf Playing Croquet
The planet is a chaotic place that combines myths and legends with pop cultural references to produce a lighthearted setting for roleplay adventures.
The logo and cover were produced in bright colors and designed to reflect the varied beings and humorous subject matter, targeted toward a youthful (at least in attitude) audience.
The interior illustrations, while produced in a humorous style in pencil and watercolor, were also quite detailed and 'realistic' — contributing to a sense of plausibility for the setting. The same objective was intended by the very detailed Murphy's World map, which was created as a color document in Photoshop; portions of this map were used throughout the book to locate the main settlements of each featured culture.

Bob, Lord of Evil
A Humorous Techno-Horror Roleplay Game

This book was the sequel to Murphy's World, serving as both a stand-alone humorous techno-horror RPG and an extension of the description of the planet that Sean Murphy discovered and was now stranded upon.
Drawing - Bob's Mansion
I produced the logo for Bob, Lord of Evil as a digital file in Photoshop. The cover was painted in acrylic and then scanned and digitally retouched in Photoshop; elements were moved and colors were adjusted.
In an effort to increase the speed at which the interior greyscale images could be produced, in addition to pencil for fine shading and detail work (as per the drawings for Murphy's World), I used black and grey markers; this also increased the contrast, improving the reproduction quality.
Some illustrations were created by manipulating and digitally altering clip art. However, an effort was made to keep the overall appearance of the images relatively consistent, with the other images contained in this book and with those published in the Murphy's World RPG book.
